Help me choose a new amp please Peavey Vypyr or other amp with modeller/multi fx?

Hi, i am looking for a new amp. I play mostly metal but i like to experiment and decent cleans are also important.

I was thinking of getting the the new peavey vypyr 75 but i have also thought of getting one of these amps with some kind of multi fx unit or modeller.

The choices so far:

Peavey Vypyr
Peavey Bandit + Modeller
Peavey Valveking + Modeller
Crate Powerblock + Cab +Modeller
Crate V18 + Modeller
Laney VC-30 + Modeller
Laney LC-30 + Modeller

The amp will be used at home for practice and also for jamming with a drummer. I like to have effects and distortion options to play around with.


so which option should i take? fans from all genres of music and all bands welcome

isn't all of that information on my initial posting?

if you mean the general styles of metal it varies from thrashy stuff, to fast and raw black metally stuff to liquid like melodic stuff. i dunno, all sorts of metal and folky acoustic stiff mostly

for the money, i'd take the Valveking, and it is the best Peavey option. i didn't try Laneys and Crates but i can suggest a Vox modeling amp.

If you really want amp modelling go with a VOX valvetronix. I personally would go with a VC-30 and buy maybe something like the TC-Electronic NOVA system or the new line 6 M13 or whatever its called but thats alot higher price then the modelling amp and depends on your budget. Alot of the smaller modelling amps and solid state may not keep up with a heavy drummer where the valve amps will.

Also is there any chance you will be gigging in the future. The more expensive option may be better in the long run depending on where you think you may go in the future. Modelling amps are better for bedroom use IMHO but for live or recording studio purposes I prefer tube amps.

A Blackheart or Epi Jr and the right pedals.
