Help me find my tone!

Ok. I own a Godin LGT guitar (H-S-S, mahogany body, rosewood fretboard, floating bridge) which I play through a Peavey Classic 50 and play a wide variety of music (pretty much everything except for jazz and country). I've had a JB in the bridge of this guitar for many years and there where things I loved about this pickup and things I disliked. The main reason I decided to switch was that I could never get rid of that upper-midrange "honk" and while it had great definition, it lacked a certain fullness and warmth in the lower-mid frequencies for rhythm playing.

I recently swapped out the JB for a Custom. I found the Custom to have a more aggressive edge, with beefed up lows, slightly scooped mids, and more treble. Pretty much a PAF on steroids, as many have described it. While this pickup works great for heavier rock, it just doesn't have the versatility I'm looking for. I need a pickup that's less aggressive and smoother than the Custom while still retaining some of the Custom's thickness. I'm thinking about swapping the ceramic magnet on the Custom with an A2 or A3 to get a Custom Custom. My only concern is the lack of bass that I've seen people complain about.

Do you think this will get me closer to what I'm looking for? Any other suggestions?

'59?? or maybe even just try turning the bass up on your amp to warm things up a bit.
