So what do you guys think?.

I have an Anderson H2+ lying around, and that pickup has the perfect split coil tone, on top of its smooth series tone. But I started thinking that it would look boring in an all black HSS scheme.

So I thought about the one humbucker scheme. It looks pretty sweet, and with a parallel wiring push/pull, it could still do a lot. It would be my main C standard guitar if I went for this specific scheme.

But I also have a Dimarzio Virtual Vintage Solo that I could install at the bridge for an SSS configuration in white. It'd look generic, although unmistakably classy.

Also classy looking would be a white HSS configuration with a GFS Dream 180 (white peal and chrome) at the bridge. On this one I'd be more concerned about a compromise of tone with the GFS. No clips, no relevant info on the site description (DC resistance, magnet type, mV output, resonant peak, EQ chart)

Keep in mind that I'm pretty set on a black 3 ply pickguard. I think tortoise shell would look much sicker on black, but unfortunately I don't have that color.

What do you guys think?.

Re: Help me pick a scheme for this Stratocaster

I think the single humbucker scheme looks awesome. I never use neck pickups, so that would be the obvious choice for me.

Re: Help me pick a scheme for this Stratocaster

I'd go with the second or third.

Might also be nice to consider maybe a stack in the neck as well and set it up so that positions 2 and 4 have the hums split. I always know when I head to the neck for a solo spot I feel a bit left in the lurch with my Strats.

Re: Help me pick a scheme for this Stratocaster

I like the black HSS combo. How do you save/publish the pics from the virtual guitar?

Re: Help me pick a scheme for this Stratocaster

OK, in order to retrieve the image, you have to hit the key Print Screen on your keyboard (should be between your alpha numeric and numeric keys, above the arrow keys, and to the right of your Function keys).

What that does is Copy your whole screen to the clipboard. It's not gonna print anything.

Then you open a blank Image document on Photoshop or Paint or whatever editor you have.

Right click and paste. Then crop as needed. That's it.

Well, yeah. I guess the whole point of the modding is to make the guitar look a lot more unique. The SRV scheme is good and all, but I still kinda find it as boring as an empty room without windows.

Re: Help me pick a scheme for this Stratocaster

I picked the first but, it needs a neck single coil in addition to the single bucker!

Thanks Draco. I just tried it and it worked. I've always wondered how to do that, and I never could figure it out.

Re: Help me pick a scheme for this Stratocaster

I like the last 2, but as I'm in a SSS world at the mo, I voted for 4.

Re: Help me pick a scheme for this Stratocaster

I voted SSS. Can't beat a proper Strat mate ;)

You could put Cool Rails in the bridge though if you want something a little hotter.

Re: Help me pick a scheme for this Stratocaster

I like the black pup covers and knobs but the chrome bridge and jack. That's the way I'd go.
