Help me to find a sound.

Re: Help me to find a sound.

ssl2 neck and middle with a hot rails bridge sounds like a fine option to me

Re: Help me to find a sound.

itll sound like an early 60's strat, is that what you think is bluesy? the trick to getting the notch tone the way you want it is adjusting the pup pup heights. most people dont use the middle pup by itself (which is a shame since it can be fantastic) so id say set the neck pup to get the sound you want then adjust the height of the middle to get the notch tone you want.

Well, i’d say that is what I want. Not the dilemma is how to do it properly.
How to height of the middle to get that sound?

Re: Help me to find a sound.

The short answer is to experiment. Generally, when they are about equal volume they give the best in-between sounds.

Re: Help me to find a sound.

Got it.

Well, what about this vintage Hot Stack Plus set? Could it be beter with hot reils or still Antiquity Texas Hot?

I have a STK-S7 neck (no middle on that guitar) and like it a lot. A bit darker, rounder and higher output than other SC I have.

Re: Help me to find a sound.

Anybody heard or even tried that 220 pF capacitor?
They Solder the capacitor in between the pot’s input (the lug wired to the switch) and output (the lug wired to the jack).
And It kinda gives you an opportunity to operate your volume knob without any loss of tone or something like that.

Re: Help me to find a sound.

Just my two cents, but Jimi played whatever pickups his Strats had for the most part, and no matter what he sounded like Jimi. SRV's #1 was his favorite because the original pickups had that "cool Strat" sound. I read that Rene Martinez has said that at some point he had the pickups re-wound and they weren't overwound as legend has it. In fact the Texas Specials were not like the pickups in #1. The overwound thing was a Fender idea. For what it's worth their tone is about a lot of factors, and pickups alone aren't going to get you there.

You’re talking about original MIA strat pickups. They set MIA with fat ‘50s as I know.
I have MIM Strat, that’s why i’m about to chenge my pickups. They set MIM with different pickups.

If you want a set of killer pickups that are incredibly versatile; try the D. Allen Tru-62 pickups. They are the best I’ve ever played for vintage Strat tones. You’ll thank me later.
