Can you help me to recognize this amp. What the hell is this?, I haven't seen it before. It seems a vintage Marshall solid state amp from 1975.
Any comments would be appreciate.
ive never seen a marshall head that looked like that. it almost looks like some1 took the chasis out of a combo and rehoused it as a standalone head. Is there no model number on the faceplate or anything to give more of a clue?
"was in production from 1975 up to 1977. It was one of the first all transistor Marshall heads. It was meant for use with a 2412 cabinet. This was the head version of the 2200 Master Lead Combo."
Despite the name of the site, Dr. Tube has schematics for this SS beast, as well.
What does it sound like ? A few years ago a friend brought round am early Marshall solid state amp that had switchable clean and overdrive channels. To me it sounded a lot more like an all valve Marshall than any of the later Valvestate series.
This is a Marshall JMP2098 solid state amplifier. It uses Darlington output transistors in it's output stage. Produces 100W RMS into 4Ohm speaker.
Produced in the mid 70's and is Marshall's first transistor head.
Hope this helps.

I encountered a few of those. I think every one of them had dead output transistors at some stage, and i seem to recall it was almost impossible to get the correct replacements back then. They sounded okay when they were going though.
