Hello,

i'm gonna mod a Jcm 800 4210.

i know that amps are bad beasts filled with electricity. I'll discharge capacitors, before working with it.

I found some easy mods to do, however my knowledges about capacitors are very limited.

Do the capacitors require a minimal voltage ?

I need a .68 µF capacitor and i found this one that seems to be great. But i was asking myself : if there is 400 volts operating in my amp will a .68 with 200V be problematic ?

That depends on where the cap is going. A JCM800 easily runs 400-450V on the plates, so there are places I'd want a 600V cap to be safe. If you're unsure, just use the same value as the rest of the amp as I'd expect them to be reasonably uniform.

so if i understand you correctly :

If my amp runs 400-450V i can't put a 200V cap into it ?

Amps aren't that simple; it'd depend on what part of the circuit you're modifying. A 200V cap is probably safe in the tone stack because there isn't as much voltage there. I absolutely would not use a 200V cap anywhere near B+ voltage. If you're not sure what that means, you have no business mucking around with a tube amp's electronics.

what is odd about this model is that there are 3 models and i can only find the early model schematics >.< .
