Hello there!
I own Squier Strat Affinity series. While I know its not the best guitar ever built, I like the feel of it.I want to keep it, upgraded tuning heads and bridge and its huge improvement.Body- Alder,Neck- Maple
I own Les Paul too but thats another story.
Im starting to really dislike stock pick-ups.Researching and hearing Ive decided about Hot Rails(HR) in bridge and Cool Rails(CR) in neck.Middle... i dont know yet, ill get 1 more pedal before replacing it.
Im chasing after this warm-deep-kinda fat sound. That fireplace, comfy sound but with attitude, hidden anger.
Want that Nirvana/Queens of Stone Age/Foo Fighters/Killing Joke,punk,70`s hard rock stuff sound but at the same time this raw bluesy White Stripes sound.I dont want to rip it off, but somewhere floating around it.
But im still not sure about this combo.I want to play slide also( which I enjoy).

Ive heard, hopefully non-true, rumors that this combo doesnt really work out with feedback and kinda high(but still enjoyable) distortion and overdrive.I love noise rock and this one bothers me.

Talking about middle p/u, I think of just deleting it and replacing it with dummy.Never really touched it so far and I dont think Ill do that.Hows that?

Huge thank you!Everything positive/negative you can say about these pick-ups and your experience, Ill be glad to know it.

I would recommend the Hot for Strat, and Custom flat or staggered for that styles and guitar!

The rails would cancel that feedback that you love!

Pardon, but you confused me. Shall I get HR or not? Or some other p/u with that warm, agressive sound?

Er, if you hope to sound like Geordie of Killing Joke, you will need to hollow your guitar out, fit P90s, string up with huge gauges and down tune.

Seriously, though, in your position, I would begin by fitting one hot pickup in the bridge/treble position and seeing how that goes. I also suggest rewiring the tone control circuit slightly so that the lower pot operates on the new bridge PU.

i dont want to sound like him,no one can.i was lucky enough to get in to their gig couple years ago.you could just feel the warm energy coming out.
Well this is also economical thing either, kinda tight on money so i cant and buy out all pickups out there. I think i'll go with HR @ bridge. Still concerned about that DS/OD and feedback issue ive been reading...

I don't recommend any RAILS pickup for what you need, but the common pole piece pickups should do the trick:

Custom flat
Hot for strat

Those were the ones I was talking about...
