Hi,
Sorry that my first post on here is a request for help with a potentially complex question. I've read through quite a few posts on the forum and although I haven't found anything that deals with the issue I have, I have realised that there are some very skilled people out there who may be able to help.
So, here's the deal.... I have a Patrick Eggle Berlin which as standard has a volume control, a 3 way rotary control (where you'd expect to see a tone) and a 3 way toggle. I bought a set of P-Rails to fit in this guitar and hope to keep the layout and controls as standard as possible, i.e. use the 3 way rotary to give options for P90 (outer coils), humbucker (both coils) and single coil rail (inner coils). Early Berlins were wired like that as standard but mine is a later model that offers a different configuration (pos. 1 = forward coils, pos. 2 = humbuckers, pos. 3 = all coils in some kind of enhanced single coil setting).
I can solder, but I don't understand wiring, so at present I have the P-Rails fitted and have simply copied the old wiring which isn't giving me the range of options I was hoping for (although it does sound great). So at present I'm getting:
Rotary position 1 = neck P90 / bridge rail
Rotary position 2 = humbuckers
Rotary position 3 = all coils doing something different to humbuckers
Is anyone able to help me out with a simple diagram to show what I need to do to get P90s in position 1 and Rails in position 3?
I'll attach a PDF showing a rudimentary diagram of how the wiring is now (at the bottom) and a picture of the cavity in case anyone recognises the 3 way rotary...
