I just bought this amp at a Pawn shop for $ 350.00, iv never seen this amp before and need some info on it. Like I said its a M-80 head with a grey 4x12 slant cab. Any help please.

It came out around 1988 and is a solid state amp that is similar
to the Deluxe 85 and 185 SS amps. It's a little noisy when not being played and has a very highgain buzzy type gain.
The good thing is that it's one of the few stacks that can sound
really good on highgain at super low levels. It was geared
toward shred players on a budget and is appropriate for that sound. Rusty Cooley is a new shred guy who uses the M-80 preamp. Not much in the way of tubey midgain tones, but for
super highgain, it's one of the few Fenders that dips into that territory. $350 sounds right for the halfstack. No less, no more.

Thanks a bunch Gearjoneser, how much power dose the head put out ?

If I remember right Fender made the M80 in a head form, a 2x12 combo, a 1x12, and even a bass amp. Il keep looking.

It should say on the back, but it's 80w solid state, which sounds
like 30 tube watts. I prefer the sound of that amp when you turn the gain down a little at high volumes so it doesn't sound
too buzzsaw. At low bedroom levels, you can max out the gain
so you have infinite sustain and crunch.

It's not a bad buy at $350, Eventually, when you want to step up to something else, you can always get your money back out of it
to finance your next halfstack.

Yep, 80wtts. Duh, im smarter than that I should have known better. Your right at volume and high gain a bit buzzy, so I turned the gain down to 6 and the volume to 5 and no problem. Then I tried the gain at 9 and volume at 2.5, to sweet. Any suggestions about a noise gate or useing a distortion pedal so I can play louder without the hi gain buzz ? Other than that its a pretty killer amp.

I jammed w/t a guy years ago who had a M-80. He was a shred
type player and sounded great with it. One day I pluged my Strat
into it to see if I could get his sound:rolleyes: No way! I couldn't
even get my sound. It's not really a single coil friendly amp.
But with a humbucker and some good chops it fine.

Yeh im gonna hav ta try a Strat 3x through this amp to see how much different the tone is. But a humbucker through this amp feels like it was deliverd with a baseball bat !
