Help: Putting '59s in an Agile AL-2000

Hi,

I'm thinking about buying some '59s to replace the stock Agile pups and have a few questions I"m hoping you experts can answer. First, are the '59s covered? I've seen pics on the internet that show them to be covered but one site showed them as being open.

Secondly, will these drop right in or do I have to modify/drill new holes?

Finally, will the wiring be the same as the existing pups? I have no idea what kind are in this thing (2 wire? 4 wire)?

Thanks!

'59s can be had in either open coil or covered, the covered costing a little more. These will drop right in to the existing routing and pickup rings without modding. From what I remember about the agile pups, they are 2 wire just like the '59s.

Welcome to the forum. Like Jumpmarine said, you can buy them with or without nickel covers......and also zebra or gold covered. Order them from an online dealer that stocks a lot of Duncans, and you'll get them a lot faster than trying to order them at a store.........they usually stock 5 pickups anyway, right?

I'd also recommend the Custom 5 bridge, if you want a 59 set, but like a slightly hotter bridge. C-5/59 is popular amongst 59 fans.

To install a 4 lead, the green/silver are twisted together and go to pot ground. Black wire goes to positive. Red and white are twisted together, soldered together, and taped off.....connected to nothing.

The 2 lead 59's are self explanatory.

-you HAVE to use the exsisting Agile pickup rings cause they're different than most, I wanted to use new rings BUT they dont fit unless ya drill new holes, so had to use stock Agile rings...
