Help shielding a les paul?

Hello got a new Edwards les paul that has 500k pots JB bridge/ 59 neck. The guitar is buzzing real bad and I know it has to do with shielding (only happens when not touching strings or metal part on guitar). I put copper shielding tape throught the cavity mounted the pots over it. Now I am only able to get the neck pickup only to work, the bridge is not working? I removed all the shielding and tried again now it is working. I'm confused. I know I had everything hooked up right with the shielding tape in. My only conclusion is it is grounding off on something?
any suggestions? The way the cavity is cut it is really hard to get copper shielding tape placed flat and properly. So I have ordered some shielding paint from Stew mac to try.

When I paint the cavity 3 times and all is done. where should the ground wire go that is connected inside of the guitar to the bridge? and also on the jack where should the ground wire go? Initally it was grounded to the back of the tone pot on the neck pickup?

when Putting shielding paint in the cavity will I need to rewire it different? I know now there are wires running off the back of each pot,(I suppose to ground) will I need to remove those as well? (seeing as the pots should be grounded when touching the shielding paint).

thanks
J

Check all the wiring. Your LP probably has humbuckers, which shouldnt be humming or buzzing. I'd be checking all my grounds properly. I dont even think humbuckers are wired so that they're grounded out to the strings. Check out the shematics here on the SD site to know what I'm talking about.
