Hi everyone!! First time poster here, but I've learned a ton from this forum prior to registering. I have searched extensively for a wiring diagram for how to do what I want to do, and I just can't seem to find exactly what I'm looking for. If you'll allow me, I'd like to just tell you what I'm looking for, what I think the solution might be, and I would love to hear your thoughts on what I'm trying to do and suggestions you might have to accomplish it!
Guitar: I'm a longtime strat player (American EJ Signature strat), but I've never gotten on well with the fatness of the neck, nor the stickiness of the heavily lacquered maple neck/fingerboard. Anyway, while searching for a new strattier-strat in the $1000 range, I stumbled upon an Ibanez Gio GRX40Z. It's just an RG-shaped HSS strat (think Andy Timmons but super-duper cheap). Anyway, I absolutely fell in love with the neck and how light it is...it's poplar, and for $150 new it's probably 19 pieces glued together, but I like it and I'm upgrading it. I picked up a used HSS set on Reverb: Fender Fat 50s Neck and RWRP Middle, SD '59 Trembucker bridge for a great price.
Plan/tl;dr: I would like to wire the guitar up in a fashion similar to the Fender Lonestar strat (autosplit the HB in position 2, Tone 1 does neck and middle, Tone 2 does bridge pup but only in position 1). The only other thing I would like, and what seems to be complicating my situation, is I would like the ability to switch the neck + middle in series. That's it. I don't need any other combinations, but if there's an easy way I'll happily add them.
Here is the Lonestar wiring: https://p4.zdassets.com/hc/theme_assets/549136/200076499/010-7900_02B_SISD.pdf
Would it be as simple as using a single mini toggle or push-pull pot and wiring the neck and middle as shown here: https://www.premierguitar.com/ext/r...1d-04fc-4185-bffe-c6d9179811eb.JPG?1502216506
Finally, the only diagram I've found that seems to accomplish all that I'm looking for is from a toneshapers kit, but this uses a weird combined pot + push-button switch: http://pdf.toneshapers.com/ToneShapers-Wiring-Diagram-Fender-Stratocaster-ST-HSS1-231.pdf
I'd like to be accomplish exactly this but with a push-pull or a toggle. That seems reasonable, and I'm sure someone smarter than I could tell me how. I appreciate everyone's thoughts, and I promise I searched until my eyes crossed to find a diagram but couldn't. I look forward to hearing from you guys, and please let me know if you need any other info I've left out. I've seen lots of people recommend just a 250k pot for the '59 trembucker, so I was gonna go that route, unless y'all would advise against it. My priority is definitely maintaining the strattiness of the SCs more than worrying about the darkness of the HB, but I mean if I can have the best of both of course I'll take it! Thanks in advance for any resources, suggestions, or knowledge you can throw my way.
