hey all, im building my first electric guitar right now for my year 12 major work... anyways.. to the point.
ive been reading about th fret placement and how its like 36.353 from the nut to first fret. now my ruler isnt that accurate, i can only measure to the nearest 1/4mm im wondering if this will be close enough or do i need to have it absolutly 36.353mm and so on and so forth

please any comments would be greatly appreciated, thank you

Re: help with fretting.... PLEASE!

I mostly buy preslotted fingerboards myself for homemade guitars.... it cuts down on so much of the headaches... But i do believe what you may want to invest in is the fretting ruler that stewMac sells.... At least i think they sell one... Might help you get closer then just guessing with your ruler. You will also need some sort of way to make sure the slots are all straight to one another... It is percise work...

www.stewmac.com has most of the common tools and rulers... A good fret slot saw is a must.

Maybe some of the real guitar makers on this site could give you some better tips.... i make guitars but i'm more of a hobbiest, or hack, for sure!
