help with my scratchy wah......but it's not a pot issue

wah1.jpg I have a Madbean Weener Wah I built about 8 years ago that is awesome. Deep, throaty, quacky. Wah stuff. It's great.

Lately it's developed some scratchy sounds when moving the pedal. I cleaned up the area around the pot and was able to isolate the scratchy part to a very small (but annoying) area when turning the pot. Maybe about 2-3 teeth on the wah gears.

My first thought was that the pot needed a cleaning. But that doesn't make sense cause I put in a very nice sealed pot just so I can avoid this issue. I found another pot and wired it up just to test it and it has the same issue in the same spot so I think I can rule out the pot as an issue.

ALSO--when I take the pot out of the area where it is mounted and I spin it by hand I find that it tunes into a mexican radio station extremely well RIGHT at the same spot I've been having the scratchy sounds when it is fully put together.

This wah has a ton of funky features and LEDs and stuff so I am wondering if perhaps something is not grounded properly and causing funkiness? Any help would be appreciated. wah2.jpg
