Re: help with pick ups
Here's my two cents. I'd recommend switching to an amp modeler/multi fx pedal over a pickup swap. They're versatile and pretty easy to use. I know they're not everyone's cup of tea, but I think they fill their niche very well, and the more recent models actually sound decent. I have the POD HD500x, and I'm very happy with it. Plus you can record direct to your computer, which is really convenient. If I ever get more serious in the future, I'll probably upgrade gear. But the POD meets all my needs right now.
As far as pickups go, I think the C6 is loaded with Schecter's Diamond Series pups, right? I've played those and found them to be harsh with too much high end. If you're on a budget, Duncan Designed pickups are certainly a step up and can be found for cheap. GFS also makes some decent replacement pickups (Fat Pat, Crunchy Pat, etc.). If you really want Duncans, that's fine. But I'd definitely recommend upgrading the amp situation first.
