Help with preamp switching

Hi guys,
Haven't been around lately as work has been brutal.

I am needing to switch back and forth between my amp's preamp and a stand alone preamp.

I bought a JHS Switchback pedal thinking that would take care of the switching, but it didn't work.

The Switchback is an A/B switcher with 2 efx loops (Loop A and Loop B) With it you can toggle between 2 pedals but never bypass them both.

Here are the pedal connections
Loop A send
Loop A return
Loop B send
Loop B return
Guitar in
Amp out
Then the place to use a guitar cable and simple latching switch to switch between Loop A and Loop B.

Here is how I hooked it up:
Loop A Send>Stand alone preamp input
Loop A Return> Stand Alone Preamp output
Loop B Send>input of amp
Loop B Return>effects loop send
Guitar in: guitar
Amp out: efx loop return

Am I missing something?
Is this an impedance problem?

Suggestions for a switcher that would work for this?

Any and all help extremely appreciated!!!

This is the pedal I got for that exact same purpose, the One Control White Loop from the Minimal Series.

Recommended to me by another forum brother.

I looked at that one. The thing I like about the Switchback (and the Gig Rig's Remote Loopy) is that you can leave the box back at the amp and use a guitar cable and latching switch to operate it out on the stage instead of making the guitar cable companies rich.

You said it didn't work, but what didn't work; or rather, what actually happens when you try to use the switcher?

My first guess, without further information, is that the switcher is designed for effects loops and not the output of preamplifiers.

right, what isnt working. are you getting sound from a but not b or vise versa? no sound at all? is there adjustments on your loop?

Simple series tube buffered Naylor style effects loop with no adjustments. When it is hooked up there is no sound at all.

That has been my initial thought.
I emailed JHS Monday for their take on this (to very possibly tell me that it doesn't work with preamp outputs) but have as of yet to receive a response.

im sure they get a mountain of email

id start playing with it and seeing if you can see what works and what doesnt. the fact that none of it works seems odd. id start out with just loop 1 with the preamp and run the output from the pedal to the input of the amp. assuming that works, try the output of the pedal into the fx loop return leaving everything else as it just was and see what ya get

Your hookup seems correct, and looking on the JHS site seems like it should work. You did use a 9V negative center supply, right? Did you test the switch you are using? Although one of thes signals should be going through even if your switch isn't working.
