help with sticker residue [guitar-related question]

i took some stickers off of one of my guitars and there is some sticky stuff left on the guitar. how would i get this off without ruining the finish?

There's a couple of good products. I can't remember which one is the safe one: Goo Gone or Goof Off. Read the ingrediants and buy the citrus based product...the one without ACETONE. DO NOT LET ACETONE anywhere near your finish! Lew

Usually with the sticker you remove, you can use that same sticker to remove the residue... by pressing on and off repeatedly until the residue disappears... this can also be done with sticky tape.

I don't think it should affect the finish, although I can't say I've been in that position myself.

WD40 on a rag works too.

Another vote for WD40, works great for getting stickers off of glass too

I've also had luck with baby oil, provided the finish was intact.
