Help!

Hey everyone,
I was just playing on my Mesa Triple Rectifier and right when I turned it on I noticed that the sound wasn't quite as full as it was used to sounding. I was playing on the amp for about 5 minutes, when a somewhat loud pop ensued, and the amp got really quiet and was breaking in and out really fast. I'm fairly new to tube amps, it's my first one and I'm only 17. I don't really know what happened. The amp was completely fine, working wonderfully the last time I turned it on, maybe a week ago. Any and all help is greatly appreciated, thanks guys.

Re: Help!

Here's some basic things you might check:

Make sure all the tubes are seated in well, just push them carefully into their sockets to make sure nothings loose.

Turn on the amp and see if any of the tubes are glowing really brightly or not at all. Either condition could alert you to a bad tube.

With amp on and volume set to where you regularly play, tap each tube lightly with a pencil and see if you hear a ringing sound or popping sound ( a little noise may be normal, but if one tube makes alot more noise than the others it may be bad)

If you suspect a tube is bad, replace it (with the amp off!) and then recheck the amp (replace power tubes as a set).

Hope that helps... just I few things I've tried that have helped me find bad tubes.
