I want to put a Blackout Modular Preamp in my Epi LEs Paul but keep the push/pull coil-split. Is it worth it to put a preamp and a triple shot mounting ring to keep the coil split or just get a Blackout pickup?:thanks:

Re: HELP!!

First of all, what pickups and control electronics parts are currently in the Epiphone?

Adding the modular preamp should make no difference to your coil split wiring EXCEPT that a single coil through a booster pre-amp is asking for noise problems.

Re: HELP!!

It's messier than that, Blackout Modular Preamp is a differential amplifier designed for 4 conductor wiring. Triple Shots lose the differential mode.

Lifting one coil or the other with a switch should work fine.

Re: HELP!!

You can keep the coil split no problem. However if your guitar is currently wired as passive with a push/pull pot split, you'll need to buy a 25K push pull pot to replace that, as the BMP-1 kit does not not come with push-pulls.
If your epi is a two vol two tone lp make sure you buy the long shaft kit.
