Came out on the floor of the pawn Shop I work in yesterday and went home with me last night.
1986 Hurricane EX-03 and the guitar looks unplayed. Super fast thin shredder neck with big jumbos and a flat board that plays like a dream. Haven't even wiped it off yet and tonight will pull her down restring and set it up.
Haven't seen one of these guitars in decades but they are MIJ monsters!!

Lerv dat Blue!!!

'Grats!
Thanks and yep so do I. Was looking for a US Fender Strat till this thing landed at the shop. As soon as i picked it up and played it i was hooked as I absolutely LOVE this neck!!!
The fact that I could get it dirt cheap and that color didn't hurt either. It's 29 years young and looks almost new so I'm looking forward to getting her apart cleaned and set up after work today then playing the heck out of it.
Company was only around for 3 years from 1986-89 so most have never seen one of these as they are pretty scarce but are wicked good players!
Biggest endorsers were Becker and Freeman from Cacophony back in the day if that tells you anything.
Jason Becker is holding one of these on the Perpetual Burn album cover!

Re: Here I am Rock You like a HURRICANE NGD!!

Want to see how the pickups sound in the real world before I go there but have a set of locking tuners that will likely go on tonight.
We shall see what else when I get her back together and see how it sounds + how stable this 2 post trem is.

Sweet! Never heard of that brand but sounds like it will be an awesome ax for you!

Re: Here I am Rock You like a HURRICANE NGD!!

One of my good buds from Brazil used a Hurricane LP copy as his main gigging/recording guitars for years. Says it was one of the best Lps he ever played. Congrats! She is gorgeous!!

The Hurricane guitars are a testament to the power of celebrity endorsements. You can take the same guitar and put the Martin Stinger name on it and it isn't anywhere near as well thought of.

IMO,That Stinger logo looks cheap tho.
They are not the same guitars. The Hurricane has a really thin shredder neck with a very flat board and that was why I wanted this guitar.
When I grabbed it it had only 5 strings and looked like it had been in someone closet for years. It was unplayable so I simply restrung it and then set it up for right now to see what I have to work with.
Pickups are trash as they are dark and lifeless and the tuners garbage but looks like the rest is pretty solid. It is holding tune well with this bridge even with these crappy tuners and plays good + intonates well sounds good unplugged and the response is even all over the neck.
I have a pair of Al-II pros one standard one RW/RP and a set of Gotoh locking tunes that will go to her soon.
Looking for a hotter bridge single in something like a SSL-5/6 or maybe a Stratabo for more of a bigger fatter P90 style lead tone.
Should be a really cool guitar once I get it all done!!

Interesting. I never paid that much attention to Becker's guitar on that album cover, but I just assumed it was something like a custom Carvin Bolt or whatever.
