here's a nice little Hamer Virtuoso for $6K

Re: here's a nice little Hamer Virtuoso for $6K

::bringing back spinal tap moment::

:D

"if you need that extra push off the cliff.." hahaha

Re: here's a nice little Hamer Virtuoso for $6K

Maybe I'm just not "getting it", 6k for that P.O.S.???

I guess from a collector's standpoint, it's high and mighty, but heck it doesn't have the original hardware, the original pickup was changed out, he replaced the tone with some sort of switch and it's ugly (like I should be talking with a purple guitar :D ).

The 36 frets does make it look cool though :headbang:

Re: here's a nice little Hamer Virtuoso for $6K

I think I might buy that to help in my ultimate quest to do justice to the Blink 182 sound. :laugh2: :laugh2:

It's amazing that this guitar will bring even close to that kind of money. I'm sure it's a finely built guitar, but 22 frets give me enough grief! :smack:

Re: here's a nice little Hamer Virtuoso for $6K

I was ready to bid till you guys dissed it!!!! :D :laugh2:

haha ... his other one sold for $4K!!!!!

I'd still buy it if I were you Curly. I'm sure that Stevie Ray would be playing one of those today if he were still alive (RIP). You could strip it down and get it done in blue! :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2:

Re: here's a nice little Hamer Virtuoso for $6K

nah, Jeff,
I've decided to hold out for a blues ax like Hound Dog Taylor's Airline or Baldwin, or whatever the heck it was:

:laugh2: :laugh2:

of course, I don't have 6 fingers like he had :)

Re: here's a nice little Hamer Virtuoso for $6K

Chris nailed it - even if the guitar was worth 6K in its original state, this guy has made changes to a one of a kind guitar ......PPLLEEAASSEE, whats up with that???

Re: here's a nice little Hamer Virtuoso for $6K

I hope you guys know I posted this for recreational humor ... I've just never seen an ax like that, and found it interesting from a luthiery point of view.

I was curious to find if it was really worth what he said, and checked his feedback. He must like unusual guitars, because he also bought a Novax 11 string fan fret:

any time I see those, it's just ???? for me

and, I agree that, just from a collector's point of view, the changes would likely devalue the instrument

Re: here's a nice little Hamer Virtuoso for $6K

wtf??

i wouldnt know where to start on an instrument like that

Re: here's a nice little Hamer Virtuoso for $6K

haha ... I know, it looks like the "Rubic's Cube" of instruments! :D

Re: here's a nice little Hamer Virtuoso for $6K

Marble .................. good for sustain or just do your back in?

Ugly and totally useless, go on Curly you know you want it!!:saeek:

Re: here's a nice little Hamer Virtuoso for $6K

Joke all you want, but I read somewhere that Fender made a couple of Strats out ot granite in the 70's to see how much sustain they could squeeze out of them. Needless to say, they never went into production.

nah, Norman, I'm still more the Airline/ Silvertone type!

actually, it would probably make a nice pastry prep surface :D

I thought it was just a marble finish till you guys called me on it! :smack:

Re: here's a nice little Hamer Virtuoso for $6K

the marble is just a finish

but that 11 string guitar!!!! i'd love to have that

Re: here's a nice little Hamer Virtuoso for $6K

As much as I love Hamer guitars, I must say I wouldn't pay $200 for that, let alone $6000. It looks like a vocational school woodshop project gone horribly wrong.
