Hey everybody! Thanks!!!!

I haven't been here for a while - life got crazy busy, but hey, that happens!!!!

Anyways, I wanted to just say thanks for all of the advice and tips and give you an update. For those of you who don't remember, which is probably everyone, I was looking for some new pickups for my Dean Hardtail. I got totally inspired by the Duncan 59 and JB in an LTD EC1000 I had just bought (Still love those!).

So anyhow, I finally settled on a Jazz and a Custom 5 for my Hardtail (both with coil taps!) and I LOVE LOVE LOVE them <3 <3 <3 !!!!!

The Jazz in the neck is just clean and crisp and clear and balanced. It's perfect! The C5 is awesome for when I want to rock out (Which is a lot!). I love playing all sorts of music and I can just do whatever I want with this pickup. It doesn't have the power and punch of the JB in my EC1000, but it isn't a puppoy dog either!

When I want to play some Stratty blues, or get my 80's pop on (LOve the Fix!!!) I just pull the tone knob up and go!

So thanks to everyone who helped, whoeverv that was. I'm starting ten days of vacation and have a lot of guitar and on-line time scheduled. Looking forward to learning lot's more!!! :8:

Re: Hey everybody! Thanks!!!!

Ahh, Custom 5 and Jazz combo.......have it on my favorite guitar......

The users on here are truly a big help when you dont know what pickup to choose.

Re: Hey everybody! Thanks!!!!

Glad you're happy with them. The C5's an awesome pickup. Rock it hard. :beerchug:

Re: Hey everybody! Thanks!!!!

Hey! glad you are doing well and loving that set! I was rocking a jazz neck in my Charvel almost all night last night. The C5 is sweet too ! I have one in my strat. I always assumed it would be too thick for a LP type axe, but lots of guys here swear by them..

Re: Hey everybody! Thanks!!!!

My Hardtail is in that in-between place I guess. Not really a Strat, but not exactly a Les Paul either.

I'm really loving this guitar. It's a tough call between my HArdtail and my EC1000. The EC1000 is the BEST for 80's metal. The JB is just perfect and gives my Marshall 401 that little extra something.

But I can play anything on the C5. It's amazing. And you guys really do know quite a bit. I can't wait to figure out the whole magnet thing that seems to be the rage here!!!

I just figured out that there are replacement pups when I got the EC1000. The sales guy said it sounded awesome because of the Seymour Duncans. I played the4 riff from Lay It Down by Ratt in the store - I was stunned!

I had no idea a Les Paul type guitar could make that sound! I think I'm going to use Duncans in all my guitars from now on.

Nah, it works great in a Paul. I always hear the natural LP sound as just pure mids, leaning more towards lower mids while an SG leans more towards higher mids. The C5 is a pretty scooped pup so it fits perfectly. Adds some nice treble and cut and tightens up all that low end while the mahogany body fills in the mids that the pickup lacks. It's just a natural fit, in my opinion.

I also hear the '59 and the Custom as kinda scooped and those are my other favourite pups in a Les Paul. They just all seem to balance nicely together.

Though, to be fair, the Custom and the C5 will sound pretty great in anything.

You're welcome! At the moment, though, I only have two electrics. :laugh2: I am seriously shopping for something with a Floyd Rose bar at the moment. If it doesn't come with Duncans I'll be checking in here right away to get it to sound the way I want it to sound. :headbang:

Thank you gtrgrl.

To the rest of you: see? That's how it's done. It's not that hard is it? This is all we ask...

:kidding:

Wow, only one person got the message? Not saying much for the efforts of Marketing, now, is it? :D

I'm Duncan-only as well.

GtrGrl, you really should look into the TripleShot - it's a pickup mounting ring that does all the various switching - Parallel, split to either coil (front or back). Much more versatile than just a push/pull IMO. Plus the switches are right there instead of down at the knob. You can flick 'em with your pick!

Definitely makes the Jazz jangle like a Ric when you put it in Parallel :fing2:
