Hey everyone, it's been awhile

Hey guys,

it's been awhile since I have posted so just dropped to let everyone know I did a re-release of the Ep with a distribution service, got some press from a paper here in the good old ATL, in between getting a health scare with my wife (had to pass on a FLOYD tribute band as my focus need to be on her). She is good (heart stopped on july 4th, heart rate increased to 52% and then on the day before new year's had her rushed to hospital in ambulance,), and after three weeks with a 24hr monitor, went back and found that heart function is 60% (as good as her cardiologist), so all is well.

The album is now up on Youtube, Google Play, Itunes, Beats, Spotify, Tidal, RDIO, so maybe I can get some sold as bandcamp is doing NOTHING.

Here's acouple of links:

There was only one inaccuracy: the first being that I communicate with George Lynch via email. The statement from me was how I got in touch with Jay Parmar (who has helped me a LOT on the other side of the pond) through George's assistant Matt(also a very cool guy)and we communicate via email (I don't think it was on purpose on his part I just gave him a LOT of info and maybe he was distracted). I DID get to meet him when I was ten on the Tooth and Nail tour which was cool, as he took a few minutes to talk to me and encourage me to keep playing (I had been playing for a couple of months so it was like a who liked sports getting to meet Michael Jordan).

There are also a couple of early rough mixes of the tunes on there from a few years ago, and a couple of live vids from shows, etc., when I was in Tennessee.

Check it out, and have a great night,

Al

Re: Hey everyone, it's been awhile

Welcome back. :)

Will check this out later. I have known Jay for years, he's a great guy.

Re: Hey everyone, it's been awhile

Yeah, Jay is VERY cool. Anytime I have contacted him he has been quick toreply as well as offer another perspective on things, and that's with as busy as he has been as of late. Things seem to be REALLY picking up for him, and it's good to see. Fantastic player, and great guy.

Re: Hey everyone, it's been awhile

Very cool song, definitely captures that old Shrapnel/Prairie Sun sound from the 80s. :)
The mix is a touch murky and could use some love. Sounds like a bit too much bus compression was used and it's pumping like mad.
Otherwise, a very enjoyable outing.

Re: Hey everyone, it's been awhile

Yeah, after a go back listen, also heard the pumping, which is strange. I didn't notice it on Pro tools, and actually didn't even use compression so I'm not sure what the cause. Was actually purposely going for uncompressed, so I'm a but confused on that one. Also didn't notice it when listening in the car on a WAV file so I don't know, maybe the converting to MP3 although I have never had that happen either. I actually HATE compression, unless it's the old tape saturation from back in the good old days of analog.

I think it's time to go back to "Tools" and do another mixdown, as I am puzzled.

Really do appreciate the kind words about the performance, though. The harmonies (actually my wife's idea after listening to the first draft) were a little tough at times on the fast stuff as it's easy to get out of sync on the faster runs. I really miss playing a two guitar band for that very reason.

Re: Hey everyone, it's been awhile

FOUND IT!!!!! For some reason, Maxim was on my plug ins on the master track. Have no idea how it got there, unless one for my friends that I let listen to on Tools accidentally clicked it, but seems kind of impossible. Maybe I did not paying attention. Either way, it's gone. Had to COMPLETELY remove the record with the dist. service, and upload everything. Oh well, could be worse. Either way, it cleaned up a lot.
