Hey guys ive been wanting a dave mustaine type flying v for quite some time now, and i stumbled upon this: http://www.rondomusic.bigstep.com/item.jhtml?UCIDs=850849|940498&PRID=1049668

Any thoughts on agile guitars? 199.99 for a set neck flying v with 24 frets? throw a DD and a 59 and you got a machine right there! And i just got about 250 bucks to spend so i figured maybe ill convince my dad to let me get it! any comments about agile guitars in general? thanks!

Agiles and SX's from Rondo are great. Cheaper than Epis and Squires, but much higher quality. I say go for it man. You probably wont regret it. But, keep in mind, they are low level guitars, and will have some finish and quality control problems, but they're great guitars non the less.

Re: Hey guys, im gassing this guitar and i have no idea!

Agiles are widely accepted to be better quality than Epiphones, and usually at least $100 less...... but this is only on the LEs Paul style guitars that Agile are really famous, not much talk about the other ones, specifically the flying V ive never heard anybody talk about

but with new pickups and electronics, and a good setup, it should be a good sounding guitar for sure (and even better because of that new DSL you got!)

Re: Hey guys, im gassing this guitar and i have no idea!

Make sure you tap the top of the guitar first and if you can write on it be aware it might have a cardboard top!!

Re: Hey guys, im gassing this guitar and i have no idea!

I don't think you'll be able to find a better V new for that price.

i think agile guitars are pretty nice! i mean cmon that v looks awesome, and set neck for under 200 bucks? where else can u get that? besides itll make for a good gigging guitar, and how bad could it honestly sound with stock pickups on a dsl100? lol, anyways i think im gunna go for it!

Re: Hey guys, im gassing this guitar and i have no idea!

I'd buy it, if it weren't made of agathis...

Heh...it's the nice way of saying "whatever was growing outside the factory at the time." Some people like it, I've found it's ok, but it doesn't take a beating to well IIRC. Not the best tone wood either.

He's exactly right. Agathis isn't exatly a very toneful wood. It's like an Ibanez with basswood IMHO (not to be confused with the basswood/maple topped guitars like Andersons).

Still, if you want a metal axe, odds are you'll put in metal pups. EMGs would sound fine in them and still give what a metal player/shredder is looking for.

I think that Agiles are great, FOR THE MONEY (notice that I wrote it in caps). I own an Agile LP and have seen several, and I never saw anyone who wasn't happy with their purchase. I wish I had those when I was a beginning guitarist!
