Hey! some help with the AHB1...

I just got a Schecter SLS C-7 and it came equipped with AHB1s :) they're really nice, but sometimes I find them to be too driven, and sometimes too "compressed". I was wondering if you guys could help me dial in a smoother tone?

I am using a 3120 by Peavey and a 2x12 cab (genz benz g-flex). Is this something I could dial in? Maybe lowering the pick ups. I am unsure, since I have never played around with pick ups myself :)

I know I eventually wanna get a Custom SH-5 and Jazz SH-2 set for either this guitar or my next 7 string, but for now I am attempting to conserve money and find a nice tone with the pick ups that came with my Schecter :) I've heard lots of good things come from the AHB1s :)

PS: I've also considered swapping the bridge for an EMTY, which is just a unplug and swap scenario since sound clips I've heard of the EMTY have seemed less compressed and smoother to my ears :)

Another slew of questions: how hard is it to wire your own pick ups? 'cause the luthier around here charges like $80 and last time he did pick ups for me the volume knobs came loose the next day. Wasn't impressed.

Aaand...

Is it worth dropping the $200 on new pick ups? Or put that $200 towards another guitar that comes stock with passive pick ups?

I am unsure!
