Re: Hhhhmmmm........TUBES

I never thought of these photos.... hmmm... to get tubes REALLY going do I need a signal going in or can I just let it go without a guitar plugged in?

also... this don't look too natural:

Re: Hhhhmmmm........TUBES

Looks better than fireworks. Tube amps have a soul. I find that good amps are funner to play with than guitars. Once you find the guitars you like, you end up getting attached to them and playing them. With tube amps, the differences are so great, you can't help but love every one you plug into, especially when tubed properly. If given a choice between 100 guitars or 100 amps, I'd take the amps.

Re: Hhhhmmmm........TUBES

I've never seen tubes glow that brightly and still be in safe operating conditions... plus the blue glow is a sign of oxygen leakage but both look awesome!

There's something magical about a set of big glowin' coke bottles in an amp that produces the best tone. Period. Randalls, Line 6, JC120s... can eat it. :D

Re: Hhhhmmmm........TUBES

Then again, I have played many tube amps that were just awful.

Re: Hhhhmmmm........TUBES

Ugh... one of my Marshall's 12AX7's has goone mircophonic... it doesn't make noise when I play, but, I'd rather take care of it before it causes a problem. (plus the last doushe hat that owned the thing tubed 'er up with chinese preamp tubes!)

Last night I photographed my Vox & Marshall like those pictures... I tell ya, I had a hell of a time getting the cover off one of the JCM900's preamp tubes, almost yanked the tube socket out.
So... in a few days, ya'll can see some nice picks of my tubes.

Re: Hhhhmmmm........TUBES

So.. JJ or Sovtek 12AX7's? Which should I get... here's a better question, which glows brighter

Re: Hhhhmmmm........TUBES

Try the Electro-Harmonix line of tubes. They sound surprisingly good for the cost.
