If you're looking to understand mixing better then unless you know why things are happening and what you're looking at from the analyzer they won't do you much good. The best thing imo to get your head around is the fundamental and harmonic frequencies of each instrument and to use subtractive eq to eliminate unwanted frequencies, honkyness, muddy sounds etc.

Cool! That looks lyke something I'd be interested in getting as an aid. maybe I'll try the demo. THNX!

Its free! You just have to download a file that contains demo's of two other of their plugins but the basic inspector is free. I just deleted the other two demos. Now the inspectorXL or whatever isn't, it has wayyyy more bells and whistles than the basic inspector.

Foamy, you running a Mac and Protools?

The Waves Platinium 4.0 bundle has all that stuff in it and more. It isn't cheap but it really opened up my machine and what I can do with it. Phase, stereo image, freq meters, its all in there with a lot of other killer plug-ins as well. It makes the factory bundles seem silly by comparision.
