Higher output neck pickup?

So I was thinking of something. Not many people do it so I'm sure there's an issue but...

I usually go to my neck pickup for solos, and I usually wish I had more of a boost for solos (usually done with a boost pedal). And I also like my bridge pickup for my rhythm and cleans.

So I was thinking and I really want a phat cat for my bridge pickup, and an Sh-6n for my neck pickup. Now the Sh-6 is a lot higher output than the Phat Cat and the neck is already more powerful. But the Sh-6n with it's brightness and presence will be perfect and the volume increase will give me the boost I need.

Sounds like a perfect combo for me, but is there any adverse effect I should worry about?

hmn.... that actually sounds like a cool combo for what you want! depending on how bright or dark you want your bridge tone to be though, a 250k volume pot for the phat cat may be a good idea if it's too bright.

I'm the same when it comes to my pickups. I like my neck for leads, and I prefer it to be fatter and higher output. I don't see anything wrong with that combo.

if thats what you need then go for it, i'd reverse them if it was me, but for what you need there should be no problem, you'd probably have to fiddle with the heights to get a good contrast and balance in output

Nothing wrong with your idea. A very famous Swedish shred guitarist does the same thing. Neck for lead, Treble for clearer Rhythm. :approve:
