Hahaha i just thought this would be funny for a few people...i was playing clean just wondering "hmm my tone sounds a little muddier than usual...wonder why?", so i looked around at my amp to try and figure it out...

I could have sworn i had a more clear open tone playing live...its the ENGL by the way through the ENGL quad ;)

That's the way they used to do it in the olden days before master volumes and attenuators were invented! :bigthumb:

Yeah - the classic club rig of the late 70's. 1987 head with a slant cab. Turn the cab around backwards, pointing at the wall. Stick an SM57 on it, then heap all the bands jackets, soft drum cases, old towels over it.

I remember seeing one guy (in a big high-ceiling bar) who played his half-stack with the cabinet lying on its back, pointed at the ceiling, miked.

Ah, the things we used to do to keep stage volume under control.

nowadays, i see a lot of guys turning the amps to face across the stage so it only messes up their hearing.........lol......and then they crank up the crappy biker bar PA so that the audience can hear:crying: And when the mike goes out, you can't hear the guitar. Seems to me you ALWAYS get a better sound with stage volume as opposed to the cheapo PA's that you see in most places....am I off base on this?

Hahaha that would be so funny with all the jackets and drum cases in front of the cab, did you ever actually do that or see it done?

And yeah i saw someone once, only a couple of years ago, playing his marshall halfstack with the head on a couple of milk crates and the cab lying on its back pointed at the roof...but i thought it was a DSL or something, i could have been wrong though. I just thought the guy was an idiot :nervous:
