Hey all!

I just purchased a start for 250 dollars. Im calling it a mia start, but it isn't, but it is.... Let me explain

The Guy i bought it from took Mia Pups, Pots, And hardware. Everything is MIA, But the body is Squier classic vibe, only the wood part, and the neck Is MIM.

My question is, Am i lying if i call it MIA?

***Hodge podge.

Re: Hodge lodge strat

yes you are lying and its not debateable. the serial number would be on the body or neck, neither of which is mia. you have a parts strat and calling anything else is misleading. it might be an amazing guitar but its still just a bunch of parts slapped together

Re: Hodge lodge strat

It doesn't matter what you call it.

Its a CV body, a MIM neck and MIA hardware...it's a mutt.

Re: Hodge lodge strat

yes, cause its not mia. as long as you arent selling it who cares.

Re: Hodge lodge strat

like i said, you can really call it what you want as long as you arent trying to sell it. if you tried to sell it as a mia guitar, youd be completely lying and misleading the buyer

Re: Hodge lodge strat

^ Boom.

Call it whatever you want as long as you're not selling it as such. Although the neck says MIM so if anything...

I have a feeling you want to call it an MIA to make yourself feel better. So go for it. Just keep in mind just because is MIA it is not automatically better. There's a reason half of my guitars are MIJ. If it's a good guitar and you like it, then its a good guitar.

Re: Hodge lodge strat

I would say that the factors that most influence how it plays, meaning the neck, and lesser, the body, are not MIA so, no, definitely not MIA.

Again, call it whatever you want, $250 is a decent deal for a MIM strat, but if you try to sell it as MIA, yes, you are misrepresenting it to potential buyers.

Re: Hodge lodge strat

Main thing that makes strat great instrument is it's component based structure. As long as you have good parts that work well together, you'll have great guitar. No matter if they're MIA, MIM or even MIC.

It's not MIA, but I don't understand the allure of calling it that either. Of course you can call it Mia if you want ;)

It sounds like a great instrument.

Re: Hodge lodge strat

Do you live in the US?

This is basically a partscaster that you're putting together with Fender parts from all over the place.

So... If YOU put it together IN THE USA... technically... It's an... Assembled In America Partscaster XD

But no it's certainly NOT a MIA FENDER because the Fender USA factory did NOT make most of that guitar. You're basically installing MIA hardware into a Partscaster with wooden parts MIC and MIM.

If you're planning on selling it, you definitely CAN'T call it an MIA guitar. You'd be committing fraud if you advertised it as such, because not only did Fender USA never make that guitar (no valid USA serial number), in order for something to be legally called MIA that passes FTC regulations it needs to have almost all of its significant parts made in the USA.

Legal things aside, if you're just keeping it for yourself... who cares where it's made? XD As long as it sounds good, plays well, and inspires me to play more, it could be made in Mars or Antarctica for all I care, hahaha
