Some of you guys might remember me getting an orange reverb twin:

https://forum.seymourduncan.com/showthread.php?p=1953592#post1953592

this is the first chance ive had to get back to fault finding with it.. reseated all the tubes, switched in the reverb cable from my DSL and the frickin' reverb's working now! :naughty:

so yeah. new tubes time. i went to eurotubes and put down the cash for a matched EL34 pair, 5xECC83's, and a single ECC81.. all JJ/Tesla.

next up is possibly an attenuator. what wattage would i need to accommodate for with a 2xEL34 amp?

i'm selling a lot of gear right now to keep the herd down.. even with ancient tubes in, this thing is working its way up the favourites list :D

clips soon!

EDIT- i replaced the ECC81 with an ECC83 out of curiosity, and i think i prefer it! warmer and more musical.. would this have been the phase invertor if there was only one?

Could be, though that's usually an X7. The ECC81 would normally be the reverb driver. Could also be a non stock tube change to gain headroom if placed in V1 or V2.

As you said the amp has 3 preamp valves... So 2 preamps, 1 PI and one Reverb Driver... not sure about the rest. 2 preamp valves also would mean 4 gain stages which I highly doubt.

So I guess the amp is a dual channel with seperate input?

Also, USUALLY the PI is the valve closest to the power valves.

naa, there's more than two preamp tubes in that circuit! 5xecc83s and 1 ecc82..

it's dual channel with seperate inputs, yeah! 1 is totally clean (like as a keyboard amp or something) and 2 has the trem and reverb on it, as well as another volume.
