Sweet! A buddy lent me his to try with a Danelectro 12 String. He said it was the secret to getting the 12 string tone you hear on the Byrds Mr. Tambourine Man. I dunno about that, but it is the nicest compressor I've used. Very natural and transparant. Highly recommended if you're looking for a nice compressor for guitar. I liked it so much I bought one for myself! Very easy to use: just two knobs...just my style. Lew

Cool Lew...The other pedal people talk about that does that is the "Jangle Box"

This is the next pedal I'm getting, along with a HBE UFO Octavier :)

Never tried the Jangle Box or even heard of it. But I trust John. In any case, the Homebrew model I have is superb! I owned a MXR Dyna Comp for many years but it sounded like a compressor and squashed my tone a little to much. The Homebrew is more natural and transparant and I like it alot better. It really does help the Dano 12 string get a chimier more "byrdsy" kind of tone.

And cost-wise, the combined cost of the Dano 12 and Homebrew are still alot cheaper than a Rickenbacker! Plus, in all honesty, I've never been able to play Rickys anyway: the necks are way to skinny for me. Lew

2 other really cool compressors are:

the AYA R-Comp

Demeter Opto Compulator

both sound awesome

www.prosoundcommunications.com/english

under the video section, Michael Thomson gives a good overview of both.
as well as the Xotic RC & AC & BB pedals. (all 5 pedals I have mentioned are on my list of "Must Have" pedals ....eventually)

Re: Homebrew Electronics Compressor

Funny thing. I've never owned a compressor pedal, but I'd love to try that one.
I've loved all the other Homebrew pedals I've plugged into. You should buy a tweed Powerscreamer.

I guess since all my amps are British EL-34 and EL-84, they tend to have enough natural tube compression on cleans. I'm curious to know how killer the sound is of the HBE comp into the Matchless DC-30 with your tele!

I'll give it a try! But I didn't buy it to increase sustain or overdrive or whatever.

I bought it to even out the tone of an electric 12 string and get more of that Byrdsy kinda chime. And it works!
