hopefully you'll laugh with me, not at me

As the title implies, hopefully you won't laugh (too hard!) at this.

A super super rough idea I'm toying with. A musical interpretation of a scene from a Conan book I'm reading (Conan and the Spider God), called "Bartake's Inn," a place where Conan likes to hang out with his wench and drink mead.

As you can probably tell, I'm going for a geeky renaissance fair/Hobbit feet/medieval/Celtic-y thing, which isn't really in my realm of expertise.

I'm trying to learn how to play my keyboard along with the riff, but the result was so funny I thought I'd share. I think I'm pretty far out of tune, which makes it even funnier. Soon to be done properly as a full song me hopes.

would conan really be drinking mead? he wasnt a viking.

sounds cool, could definitely be something out of a folk/power metal band

Re: hopefully you'll laugh with me, not at me

hehe, actually he drank the best wine in all of Yezud, the white wine of Kyros, typically reserved for the noblest of men! (I had to look that up)

haha, well there you go. its all about the details.

I don't think only vikings drank/drink mead...

I can't listen to the song just now, as I have AC/DC on and can't bring myself to turn them off, but I'll listen tomorrow! ;)

Who wrote the Conan book you're reading? I tried some, since I'm a big heroic fantasy fan, but the Conan books seemed pretty crappy.

L. Sprague de Camp penned this one. he supposedly wrote conan books to mimic Howard's style. it's fun - not my typical read, but holding my attention.

Actually, I found that to be wonderfully creative. Sure, it needs a little polishing, but still, definitely something cool in making.

Good job...I really liked the olde English/Irish/Scottish vibe. With the overdriven guitar and the keyboard behind it. Sounded really cool. I'll definitely listen egain!

Thanks.

I kind of hate to admit it, but the out of tune keyboard really adds something to the mix. I'd leave it out of tune.

really? interesting note, and thanks for the tip! there's a part in Nightmare Before Christmas where a ragtag town band is supposed to not be tight, and hence danny elfman did the music all out of tune, but it sounded cool. perhaps the same thing is happening here.
