Hot Bridge Humbucker with Best Cleans

Re: Hot Bridge Humbucker with Best Cleans

Probably the parallel axis series. They always seem clear/uncluttered under drive (I've not tried the distortion version though) and quite jangly clean despite the K rating. The original PATB I had was miles better clean than either the Custom or Custom 5.

If you find the big and long BW thread, I had some sound clips of the BW split. Bridge, middle and neck. Sounds kinda stratty.

Thanks for that! I found the bridge split clip and it sounds awesome.

Re: Hot Bridge Humbucker with Best Cleans

the dimebucker sound so nice clean, not the kind of clean you expect from a high output monster like it, it's reminicent of one of those underwound with unabalanced coils pafs with lots of treble, split is twang city even on a big mahogany slab with a tom, on parallel it's a little weird if you want, it's like if you cross a p90 with a tele, has less twang than split and is less fat than series, but has more punch on the high mids

the lace alumitone deathbucker is also a firebreathing monster, and has sublime cristalyne cleans, on split is like a deeper single coil with sweet highs and an infernal output (there's no output drop from humbucker to single mode and the lace is so hot it can handle a dimebucker or a distortion bridge on the neck slot)

and the other is the black winter, it's so clear and split is very stratty for something that hot......

Re: Hot Bridge Humbucker with Best Cleans

I really like the 59/Custom Hybrid split & clean. It isn't as high output as some of the others, but sounds great. It splits to the Custom coil.

Re: Hot Bridge Humbucker with Best Cleans

The EMG 57 sounds really nice on clean, surprisingly. Most of the "hot PAF" pickups I've come across do, too. Check out the Custom 5 Alnico, especially. I'd also recommend the Dimarzio Titan and the SD Custom Shop Omega.

Thank you for reminding me about the Deathbucker :headbang:

Re: Hot Bridge Humbucker with Best Cleans

How would that work with a 4 conductor Seth Lover neck?

The Seth isn't as high output, so it would give a weaker single coil sound. I've heard them sound good though. The low output isn't really like a Strat, more like a very weak Seth.

Great, thanks! I'm still contemplating which bridge pickup to pair with the Seth neck. So far it's Perpetual Burn or 57/Custom. It has to be a trembucker.
