Hot fat singles in strat

I'm looking for hot fat true single coils pickups with good mids and lows in SSS strat. For hard rock/stoner.
Which of these is better:
1) Quarter Pound Flat™ SSL-4
2) Quarter Pound Staggered™ SSL-7
3) Hot for Strat SSL-3
4) Custom Staggered SSL-5
5) Five-Two™ for Strat SSL-52

What else do you can recomend me? Especially from GFS :naughty:

Re: Hot fat singles in strat

qp's have fat lows and kinda aggressive clangy mids
the hot is smoother and warmer
the custom is brighter and more strat like
the 5/2 is more vintage sounding than the rest

a custom in the neck and middle with a hot or qp in the bridge would be a good hard rock guitar

tapped QP bridge, 5/2 middle with a tapped Custom in the neck would be

ALL KINDS OF EPIC

I'm selling a handwound set that fits that description by a boutique maker, Chubtone.....reverse staggered 69 set. They're basically the Blackmore/Yngwie type pickup, which is vintage spec but beefy in the lows and mids, and sparkling 63 type top end. Something like Fralin Vintage Hots in tone.

They were over $200 new, worth more now, and I'll let them go for $170 shipped.
Look up Chubtone. It's Lollar, SD, Bare Knuckle quality....not cheapies.

Overwound grey bottom set. Tops.

Do you know anything about GFS 1963 Strat Overwound Wound Professional Pickup Set, True Coil Overwound Set 12K / 10K / 7K, Neovin Noisefree "Power Rock" set "Aged Cream?

Re: Hot fat singles in strat

I had the overwound greybottoms, not sure Id call them hot, dark, or fat. They are pretty good for 70s clapton style tones though.

Try a dimarzio FS1 set.

Re: Hot fat singles in strat

The SSL-3 is easily the hottest and fattest, but can be a little shy on highs and low bass. The tapped one is cool. The SSL-4 is hot too, but more balanced tonewise. ;)

Re: Hot fat singles in strat

I've had both the SSL-4 & SSL-7 pups. I really love them both, but I my preference would be the SSL-4. Used SSL-7 in bridge position only. Not very Stratty considering it has staggered pole pieces. One thing about them. They are very noisey pups. Take this into consideration. But they are the closest thing to a P-90 in a strat pup.
