Hot Rails: Full Size Version

I'm assuming that, like the Dp 218 super distortion vs Dp100 and 59 and lil 59, the hot rails and cool rails were based off of full sized versions. Is this true and what are they?

The Hot Rails aren't a mini sized version of anything. They pre-date the other mini's by nearly a decade. I really can't think of anything full sized that they sound like?
