Hot rails in the neck? Anyone tried?

Hello!!

I am getting closer to the end of my quest for tone.

I have a strat that just strikes me as too bright. So!

I'm thinking of changing the fender hot noiseless pickups to some hot rails.

Now the reviews of the cool rails are not so good. I like to solo with the neck pickup too...so I wonder how a hot rails in the bridge and neck would work with either a vintage rails in the center or something else?

I am REALLY open to suggestion and I would love to hear what you think. Anyone who has a hot rails in the neck....PLEASE talk to me!!

This forum rocks and I don't have a lot of money to spend needlessly.

Many thanks for any and all opinions...

Your fan,

Thor

I've tried all the rails in all the positions. The Hot Rails is a great shred metal lead pickup in the neck. The Cool Rails is like a 59, with the right amp it can do anything. Two Hot Rails paired with a Vintage Rails, and you'll notice a huge volume drop when switching between the pickups.

I stuck one in the neck position of a Les Paul and it lit up! I got it in the neck of my HM Strat now and sounds damn good.
