Hotrails Question

Well a while back i played some limited edition BCRich Asassin with hotrod flames. It was pretty cool, like my perfect guitar for cheap too. It has a H-S pickup config, with a single coil sized rail pickup in the neck. I havent played a hotrail before but it might be close. It was a pretty hot neck pickup. Has anyone ever played that bcrich? I think it was called "Torchy". Whatever, well describe your hotrails pickup to me.

I've heard that a hot Rails is very bassy in the neck. Most people prefer the cool rails there. I actually bought both for my Peavey so I could swap positions and see which I liked better. I like the hot rails middle/cool rails neck so much I've never swapped them. I'm sure there are some people here that have tried it though.

K thanks, does the cool rails have more treble? My amp is a little dark.

I prefer the HR in the neck and the CR in the middle. In the mid position, the HR sounded too much like my HR bridge pup, and I wanted more tonal/sonic variety.

The hotrails is definitely a bridge pickup. It's got plenty of lows and mids. I love it in my strat. I think it would be WAY to bass heavy in the neck, any other bridge pickup would sound thin in comparison.

Hot Rails bridge is amazing...thought about putting three Hot Rails in my Strat but I'm too hooked on these old single coils...but using my imagination and what i've learned about pups so far, HR's would be way too bassy and flubby...I think that's why cool rails was invented anyway.
