Which do you prefer? I have a JB in my SG, and i'm planning on installing a Hotrails in my Jaguar. I have asked before, but no-one actually answered my question. Please don't criticise me for changing pickups in the Jaguar, i know what i'm doing..i'm not a newbie, i'd just like to know your opinion of the Hotrails compared to the JB :-). And is the JB'jr any different from the humbucker? Thank you..

Re: Hotrails Vs JB..

I think the JB jr. has is more open and has better dynamic response - sparklier with a little better harmonic overtones.

The HR is an excellent pickup, so you woudn't go wrong with it. It sounds like a Bill Lawrence type pickup to me.

Re: Hotrails Vs JB..

Simply put, I love the JB, but I hate the JB jr. The Hotrails is by far the best Duncan pickup for a metal sound out of a single coil sized bridge pickup. The JB jr. was very thin to my ears.

Re: Hotrails Vs JB..

The Jb Junior is a hot MOFO.It is screaming the Harmonics ,but it lacks Bass response and a well defined bottom end.
JB Jr. is like a JB in many ways ,still is weaker in midds and the spike is even wrse than the JB.

Re: Hotrails Vs JB..

I don't know what kind of music you play. I have a HRb in one of my Strats and I have to admit I don't like it that much. It's too hot. I also have a JBb in my 335 and I like it. I play mostly Blues and Classic Rock and some Standards. I have a Cool Rail bridge in my other Strat and that works much better for me than the HR.

Re: Hotrails Vs JB..

I got both and I install the hotrail at neck and JB at bridge. Good mixt.
I founded that the hotrail was too bright at bridge and I mooved it to
neck and it soung great.
