HotRails without threads! How to mount it?

I plan to buy a CoolRails set for my Steinberger style Hohner. Because I had fitting problems with a Lil59, I decided to test fit a used HotRails before laying out the money.

To my dismay, I discovered it had no mounting threads, just two holes! I tried rigging up something with bolts, but the hardboard base is waxed, so I couldn't glue them on. After much fiddling, I finally got something going, but it rocks forwards and backwards and adjustment is no fun.

Are the CoolRails also like this?

See pics below. My Lil 59 has proper mounting threads. The borrowed HotRails has just holes!

wtf? mine has standard mounting threads & the little squashy plastic bead to go underneath as it adjusts (mine are for strat) I dont know what's going on there. It's like a beaver has had at it. Maybe it's for a different model guitar? (forgive my ignorance I have never seen the tele-kind or how they mount)

Pic on the right is an old style rails before they re-designed them with a cover that went over the top.

New ones are like this

Ah, that's a relief! So the new ones are like my Lil '59.

OK, thanks guys.

Ah! "Guys and Guyess" in that case - as in Blokes and Blokesses (TopGear target audience)

i'm bumping cause i have the prob JazzSinger described, i have a hotrails but without all those holes, only 2 for the mounting screws, but they won't enable pressure on the springs and now i can't mount it on my pickguard, any ideas ?
i don't think there are bigger screws because screws for mounting and basically same all over no ?
