How are the Charvels?

BloodRose

Professional Scapegoat
Got a line on a new Charvel. (Asian). These pretty good?? How is this pup combo? Pearly Gates (bridge) Lil Demon (neck and middle)
Any advice, tips or feedback would help!

Re: How are the Charvels?

i think the combo is great. not sure about the guitar, all the charvels ive owned were older ones and they were nice guitars. ive played the san dimas models and really liked them as well. what model are you looking at? ive seen one that had a koa top with that pup config and it was a very nice guitar

Re: How are the Charvels?

The NOS Japanese Charvels are good axes for the cash (<500$). Maybe be a bit more specific on which one, then I could help you a bit more ;)

BTW, The reason I say NOS is they´ve all been discontinued as of Feb 1st 2004, Charvel is a USA line again ;) :headbang:

Re: How are the Charvels?

Zerb, not sure the model name. Its over at AMS. Hahogany body, Floyd, Strat headstock, Pearly gates, lil demon, lil demon. $389 Figure the pups alone are prob worth that.

Re: How are the Charvels?

Sounds like a Standard or a Pro A. for 389 you´d be insane not to grab one if you´re looking for a player´s axe ;)

*edit* Waitasec, did you say STRAT headstock?? Are you absolutely sure??? Or does it look more like this

Re: How are the Charvels?

Yo Bloodrose!!!!!! I used to have a charvel traditional about a year ago. It was japanese made with a custom 5 and hot rails. I liked it very much!! It was a solid guitar. It is pretty much the same thing as the guitar you are describing except different pickups. I must say, for that price and the quality of the guitar, It is an absolute STEAL!!!!!!! I have played $1000 guitars that I thought werent as good!!!!!

I wish it were, but a PC-1 I´ll definitely still add to the arsenal ;)

But I´d still be surprised if it were a "true" strathead, and not a ""gumby" as the headstock above is often referred to. Then we´re talking a whole new ballgame ;)

Re: How are the Charvels?

just buy it before zerb finds out it's a old san dimas model and snatches it in front of your nose with an evil chuckle!

Re: How are the Charvels?

No Zerb, not a true strathead. Strat style and not pointy.. haha I once had a pointy charvel.. First one in this city with an upside down stock. Was a sweet axe...
Well, was gonna post a pic for you, but its not on the site anymore. must have sold it.. WAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

What, me?? :newangel:

No, J/K, I don´t have the cash for another axe right now (particularly not anything Non-US), after buying my Charvel (which is still waiting for the Floyd tutorial for new strings) I´m spent at present.. ;)
