How are the clean tones on the livewire classic HB?

Are any of you guys using the Livewire Classic pickups for clean tones? I mean true cleans like jazz, not like a chord picking thing from a deathmetal tune. No offense to metal players, but I'd really like to hear from some clean connesuirs. I have a set of Blackout AHB-1 pickups in a hardtail mahogany strat, and the clean in the neck position is, first of all, never truly clean, and secondly, kind of brittle and mechanical sounding. I've adjusted the pickup height several times, and tried backing off on the volume a bit, but to no avail. I have Gibson '57 Classics in my 135 so I'm spoiled for clean tones. Any active solution? Will modding to 18volt give the cleans more headroom?

On a side note, if any Duncan personnel actually read this stuff: Why the hell do I have to buy a set? I just want to swap out the neck pickup. Also, can we get some demos, please? There is nothing - ANYWHERE- on Livewire Classic HBs, or Blackout singles. Not the SD site. Not Youtube. Nothing.

Livewire Classic II humbuckers are available individually. No need to buy as a set. The cleans are unbelievable. Articulate but still with a little "fatness" rather than dry and crisp or scooped sounding.

Awesome! Now if I can just find one. Went to 8 different online vendors and nobody has them. I guess I'll keep looking until I've gone through them all. To top it off, I need one in white.

Livewire Classic II humbuckers are available individually. No need to buy as a set. The cleans are unbelievable. Articulate but still with a little "fatness" rather than dry and crisp or scooped sounding.

+1 I have a set of LWC2s in my LTD EC401w. Infinitely more musical than the stock EMG-81/-60 combination that they replaced. I have a second pair awaiting deployment.

Don't bother with 18v UNLESS you are actually using the Live Wire Classic 1 pickup(s). A totally different animal!
