How big a cap on tele tone circuit?

I'm thinking about putting together an esquire if I can get a good deal on one of the usagc bodies. Due to some hearing issues I'd like to make this tele as thick as possible and not that bright. In that vein....how big a cap can one put in circuit before killing the highs? I don't want to muddy it up too much just kill some highs.

I know how much better my MIM tele that I had sounded when I replaced the .02 with a .047. There's an electrical supply store in town here that I know has a wide variety of caps and values.

So has anyone played around with larger cap values, still using 250k pots?
I was thinking of one of the stacked coil bridge pickups as well to start off with a less bright pickup to begin with. Or perhaps I just get a p-90 cut in lead position...
thanks,
matt

I probably wouldn't go any larger than .047, but I have heard of some folks going as high as .068uf. If its highs you want to roll off, you could keep the .047uf, but use a lower pot value. In other words, try a 100k instead of 250k That would be like having your 250 rolled back to around 7 or 8. (Assuming an audio taper tone pot.)
