ive got an esp fx-260 its wired for split coil 3 way toggle 1 volume 1 tone with push pull on the tone. do i have to change the push pull out with a normal tone or can i run it to bypass the push pull. i', putting in a sh-5. if not does the sh-5 work well split coil. oh and its got 2 esp emg lh 300. any sugestions on a bridge pick up. or leave the lh 300. it doesnt sound bad at all. but all ive got at the moment to change it is a 500t 490t, pearly gates plus, dimebucker, and some kinda dean bridge pick up.(which i really dont like)
help a brother out. i'm going for a real chunky tone.

well obivously if you dont like the dean pickup, dont put them in:boggled:

well i wasnt planning on using the dean i was acualy thinking of using the pgp. but its 5 wire and i'm lost on that one. i just wantto know how about the split coil wiring

I know on Seymour Duncan pickups you just twist the red and white wires together and tape them up to make it humbucking--

As far as the push-pull pot, You can just disconnect the old pickup from it and it should work fine--accept....what ohm pot does an EMG use?? Anyone know??
Are you planning on leaving 1 emg in and using 1 passive (SH-5) ?

That might cause an issue--you might have to change the volume pot out for the Custom--but Im not certian on that--

so its that easy. the black and green go normal. hey i got a funny ?. can i wire these things different too drop the highs a little. i'll be honest i'm just learning this stuff so any help will be great. its sick isnt it been playing 15 years and just now learning the tech. hahahah. i think i was just lazy as a kid.

black and green? greens ground most of the time aint it? dont that go with the bare wire?

plus, you cant really have on active pickup and one passive without some complex wiring

Re: How do i change from split coil to non

nah theres no active. so get this right or im about to mess up.tape red and white together and let them float. black goes to the left post on the volume with a jumper to the right post of the tone. and the bare ad green go to the back of the volume right. thats normal i think. but ive got a push pull for my tone. where do send the jumper to on that tone

Re: How do i change from split coil to non

ok so i'm an idiot. here is is how it goes. red and white together. green and bare to the back of the volume, and the black to the selector switch. for some reason i was thinking you HAVE to run a jumper from the volume to the tone but apparently the is allready there with the bridge pick up. i got to learn more on how this loop works. sorry for the stupid questions you guys.

no stupid questions my man. just in some cases, many many stupid answers. luckly you wont find those on here!:nervous:

This all depends on how the ground circuit is wired ;-)
