Its a 2004 American Strat, and I cant tell, I dont know how to listen for it. Anyone here have a similar guitar and wants to tell me how mine probably sounds, bright or dark?

probably very bright to midrangy. Strats are very bright in nature across the board.

Just unplug the guitar and strum it a bit...that will give you a good idea of the tone of the guitar and just the guitar

rosewood or maple board? fixed or floating trem?
I doubt in either case you could classify the AM strat dark.
in most cases the STRAT is a very bright to medium bright guitar acoustically.

Maple board, standard strat tremolo. Will APS-1's be too bright in this guitar??

yeah that's a bright guitar. "too bright" is subjective though.

I have the same guitar, no pickups will be TOO bright, i have Surfers in mine and i love them, what would matter most is the amp your using.

If you want to know what the terms "bright" and "dark" really mean, go to a guitar shop, grab a Strat and strum it- unplugged. Do the same with an SG. You will hear a distinct differnce in the basic tones.
SG= dark/ Strat= bright(er)

My amp is Fender Hot Rod Deluxe tube amp. Its really awesome, I use a TubeScreamer with my strats too.
