So I recently did some thinking about adjusting some resistor values for my partial split (a la PRS) on a Les Paul of mine and was thinking about potentially changing to the ol' capacitor method instead (a la Gibson).

Does anyone here have experience with the Gibson method before I go out and buy the .01uf caps?

I always do it the simple way, and I like it well enough to not bother with it afterwards.

Re: How do you like your cool splits?

I have my volume pot P/P wired for a straight split for both neck (jazz), and bridge (59). I have the tone pot P/P wired for partial with a 2.2k on each going to ground. I use a linear taper for the Vol. & a audio taper for the Tone, it turned out really great. I am very happy with it and have zero urge to change anything. I thought about swapping out the mags for rough cast A5's which are just sitting on the shelf but again no urge. :)

I used 4k7 for individual splits and liked it. Don't like the huge volume drop of splitting fully. Right now I'm actually using a 20k resistor for auto splitting my hsh because it gives position 2 and 4 the cluck they need (and hum cancellation), but there's almost no volume drop.

What is a cool split ?

Cool, only took about 56 hours for someone to notice. A lot longer than I expected.
