Re: How do you think about custom7 and 59-7?

i think that set up custom/59 would be very cool for a heavy sound, the custom has great chunk. im not sure how the soloing tone is on the 59n maybe someone else can comment.

Re: How do you think about custom7 and 59-7?

Lead tone with the 59 is nice and fat. It can lose some of its definition in higher gain settings for chordal work, but metal doesnt call for that all too often ;). The custom is a great heavy pickup, though it won't be anywhere near as powerful as the live wire metal.

If you like a big, agressive sound with tons of attitude and great chunk, the custom is a great bridge pickup. If you're looking for a crunchy-as-hell tone with singing leads, the JB is a great bridge pickup. And, if you're looking for over-the-top output with TONS of bass, the Invader is a great bridge pickup. Though, in my experience, the JB works best with a good tube amp, where as the others seem to be a bit more compatable with solid state.

The 59n Is fat as hell and has enough power for most situations. The Jazz neck has slightly less power, and that can be a problem at times, but an incredable clean tone and makes for some really defined soloing on the neck pickup.

Re: How do you think about custom7 and 59-7?

Why do you need to change p-u?
Live wire metal should do the heavy thing and live wire classic should do the nice clean and for the soloif you lack power just put an overdrive before the preamp .
The 59 is very muddy in the lows with high gain and is not as precise than your live wire classic , it is not a p-u for metal but for blues to classic rock .

Re: How do you think about custom7 and 59-7?

Hi.
I must change pick up because I don't like the v7 and v8 p.u.
I have live wire in a 6 string guitar. And i'm happy and I serch similar pick up
for my seven string guitar.
Before live wire classic I use ts9 (boost)
What I can Buy? 59 or jazz or invader neck?
Thank

OK if you want similar pickups i highly recommend the Jazz for neck : beautiful clean and shred monster for gain .
As for bridge the Custom , Custom5 or if you want tighter bass the full shred ( or JB) or Distortion .

Re: How do you think about custom7 and 59-7?

Or Screaming Demon if they do it for seven strings , this is THE pickup that kills .

Re: How do you think about custom7 and 59-7?

Stock model 7s = 59, Jazz, JB, Custom, Distortion, Invader

Re: How do you think about custom7 and 59-7?

then i'll go for Jazz neck and in bridge JB ( classic ) or Distortion ( more agressive ) or ( if tuned in regular E ) Custom ( carefull with the low end !)
