How does the Custom sound split? Is a splittable custom a shop order?

Got the EVH bridge in my #1 guitar but want to go in a more metal direction for a while so thinking I'll try a custom for tighter lows, a little more of a mid scoop and some output push.

I love being able to split my pups for the strattier moments. How does the custom do in that scenario and is it a special order for the extra wiring?

Thanks!

Sounds great split...especially combined with a split neck humbucker. I use it with the PGN. The Custom is one of my favorite bridge pickups.

Splits well. I prefer the slug coil over the screw coil, as the split Custom is bright to begin with - using the screw coil was a little too bright.

No special order needed. Customs come standard with 4 conductor wiring. All that is needed is a switch to control the split.
