If a pickup has a higher inductance it will usually not be as bright as one with a lower inductance.

On the technical side, just as a capacitor is a high-pass device, (allows high-frequencies to pass through), an inductor is a low-pass device. So, if you have more inductance, (more coil windings), you'll tend to pass more of the low frequencies. But, because there are other electrical considerations, such as magnet type, thats not an absolute rule.
