How expectation changes the way we perceive guitar tone

Hmmm, I dunno. Speaker breakin, especially with paper membranes, seems pretty real to me.
Hifi speakers I mean. Guitar speakers I'm pretty sure still need to break in because they are based off old technology.

Speaker break in is the tonewood of the hifi world

I have this kind of blind comparison on mind:

Would love to hear your feedback if it makes sense to you in this format.

I know about “crappy” YouTube compression. Most of the music people hear today is compressed on YouTube or Spotify anyways. (Sadly)

Guitar Speaker break-in has been proven to be just a little true. But probably not to the extent that we've all been lead to believe.

ive found hemp cone speakers take longer to break in, but in general, i think you are right. but 5% here and 5% there do add up

when i was obsessing over things, i would hitch them up to my stereo and let it play all day at low volume while i was at work. the next day. id increase the volume, and again the third day. there is no reason for anyone to do that. having said that, there was a noticeable difference in the sound from the speaker afterwards
